Welcome to the Canyon Oaks Sportsman's Club .22 Fun Match. Where shooters from all over the Southern California are using Steel Cowboy Targets and other special targets.
This event is strictly for .22 firearms where they will be put to the test against shooting scenarios partly based on the Cowboy experiences.
Shooters are welcome to bring their favorite .22 hand-guns that are either semi-automatics or revolvers for the pistol targets and any kind of .22 rifle (semi-auto, pump, lever action, etc.) for the rifle targets.
.22 Lead bullets only, please. Any other ammunition is not allowed for this event.
There will not be any shotguns used for this match.
Ideally, the shooter will have either two revolvers or a semi-auto pistol with two magazines.
There are 6 stages that shooters will experience. Each stage consists of a Cowboy Challenge featuring 5 shots for each pistol (x2) and 10 rounds for the rifle. The event typically uses 120 rounds for the 6 stages.
Shooters are timed at each stage and the shooter with the lowest cumulative time is the victor. Timed scores are adjusted as follows:
- 5 seconds added to the time for a miss
- 10 seconds added to their time for a procedural or safety violation
- Bonus targets which earn the shooter a 5 or 10 second subtraction.
Shooters are placed in groups to even out the competition based on experience:
- Youngsters
- Teenagers
- under 50
- 50+
Shooters are encouraged to bring their own .22 lead ammunition and firearms. COSC may have a couple of extra .22’s to loan for the event but can only do so legally.
